Installation

Installation of J!Analytics is extremely simple and will take only a couple of minutes to do. Below is a step by step procedure for installing J!Analytics into your site.

Step 1 - Modify Template

Don't panic, this is a very easy simple thing to do. What you need to do is add some code at the bottom of your template so that  you can place the Google Analytics code in the right place.

Open up your template by  going to Extensions -> Templates.

Templates -> Extensions

Here you need to click on your template to edit it.

Click on your template to edit

You will see an Edit HTML button which allows you to edit your template HTML directly.

Click on Edit HTML button

Locate the following code - It will be at the very bottom of the page.

</body>
</html>

Joomla template code - before

Add this line directly above the code.

<jdoc:include type="modules" name="googleanalytics" style="raw" />

Joomla template code - after

It should look like something similar to the above image.

Step 2 - Install J!Analytics Module

Installing extensions in Joomla 1.5 couldn't be any easier.

Go to Extensions -> Install/Uninstall

Extensions -> Install/Uninstall

Browse for the file you downloaded (mod_janalytics-1.0.0.zip) and click install.

Edit J!Analytics

Set Show Title to No

Set Position to googleanalytics (Hint you can type this directly in)

Change main settings

Change Google Analytics Id to your own Id provided by Google Analytics. If you leave it as the default it will not work.

Optional - Change "example.com"  to your primary domain if you want to support subdomains in your Google Analytics account, otherwise leave as is. (Only works with Google Analytics Code).

Optional - If you would like to use the old Urchin code provided by Google check the Urchin radio button to enable.

Set module parameters

Save your module and you now have Google Analytics installed on your site.
